Every heart that has beat strong and cheerfully has left a hopeful impulse behind it in the world, and bettered the tradition of mankind.
- Robert Louis Stevenson
The month of February is also the month of healthy heart awareness. We use expressions that include the heart when we say things like, "I love you" and "You hold my heart in your hands". It is the limit of our language that doesn't allow us to fully express the heart-centered feelings we hold for who and what we treasure and cherish in our lives.
The heart chakra is positioned in the center of the chest and is associated with compassion, friendship, empathy and the ability to give and receive love. There are many ways to strengthen the heart chakra including light, sound and entrainment. In Traditional Chinese Medicine the most active time for the heart energy is between 11am and 1pm of the time zone you live in. This is a great time to bring awareness to offer yourself heart support.
If you were to use light/color you could shine green, light green or pink light to balance the heart chakra.
If you were looking to use sound the musical note “F” can balance the heart chakra.
When it comes to entrainment, that is where I think the quote above is so important. Entrainment occurs when two or more oscillating, or vibrating systems, frequency-lock together and operate with increased efficiency. The highest, or strongest frequency, permeates the lowest, or weakest, and brings it into harmony. Using color and sound therapies work on these principles, but so does our own heart energy. Our joy and zest for life will spill out and touch the heart chakras of those we come in contact with.

February is also a well publicized holiday for Valentine's Day. Since obesity is linked with heart disease I wanted to share with you how I prepare a heart-healthy chocolate that is NOT sweetened with sugar. ChocoPerfection is a company that makes delicious chocolate sweetened with the prebiotic fiber Chicory and erythritol which are both 100% natural sweeteners derived from plants with a glycemic index of ZERO. This makes it a perfect choice for our low carb diet household. You can find ChocoPerfection at this link: CHOCOLATE
The recipe is so simple and easy to do. Simply melt the chocolate over a double boiler and either add flavoring (I love peppermint) or add nuts if you’d like (I also made chopped almond). Once melted simply spoon into silicone molds and let it harden in the refrigerator. Once hardened you can pop them out of the molds and enjoy!
Here’s our Valentine’s Day chocolates:
Happy and Healthy February to you and yours,
